After an incredibly boring day in the office, Courtney and I decided to look into getting cheap tickets to see the off-broadway play "Rock of Ages". Tuesday shows in off-peak season rarely sell out, so we tried our luck 15 minutes before showtime. No student ID required, we got $27 tickets to see the show and it was 4th row orchestra seating right on the aisle...perfect!
I remember listening to my Uncle's 80s rock band cds while in middle school. His cds included all the best: Bon Jovi ("woah woah woah..."), Poison ("every rose has it's thorn"), and Guns n Roses (my favorite at the time was November Rain, which is likely attributable to me being a November baby lol).
Anyhow, the show was absolutely amazing! I can't even imagine what it's like for someone who was in there 20s during the 80s - probably incredible. They sang so many songs from the era, which was essentially a homage to all the hair bands. The best and most loved songs probably coming from Journey albums ("Don't stop believin'").
To add to the fun of the night, this was the only play I've ever been to where they don't make you finish your drinks in the lobby prior to sitting down and instead a waiter came around to take your drinks orders throughout the entire show. I guess that's how the 80s were and I'm not complaining. =)
